Over the past week or so I began noticing that my pullets-I have fiveand all are about 12 weeks-will periodically and briefly joust each other and then go about their business as though nothing just happened. My first thought was that they are establishing whose the boss, the pecking order, without actually throwing any blows. I also noticed my leghorn seems to be the leader and always appears the most intimidating in these encounters. Can anyone shed any light on this behavior?

just deciding who will be the boss- it's normal-pecking order...

Very normal. And healthy. Just make sure there is no bloodshed, and if there is, remove the bloody bird and separate them until they are healed. Then return them and keep an eye on them.
