Thanks to everyone!! She just laid one right now! She is in a pen, but I let her free range for a couple of hours. I thought she was hiding them and looked everywhere and found nothing.

She gets like 11-13 hrs of sunlight and has feed readily available. Although, she doesn't really deplete it. She eats bugs grass and other stuff growing around. I'm new at this, I have never heard of laying mash. . . ????

The closest feed store is about 45min away. Any recommendations for recipes.

This is now her third egg, I guess I just have to be patient for her to lay consistently. Ugghhh!!!!

Oh yeah, is it normal for her to seem weak or just plain quiet after she lays. Every time she has laid she whines and doesn't come out of the coop for about an hour.

Thanks to everyone Jonathan

it's frustrating and exciting at first waiting for those eggs. someone on here posted a Recipe for homemade suet. here it is. you can also add honey and peanut butter i baked mine longer because i added more ingredients and doubled everything because i had 18 to give it to

Ingredients:..Bread slices,
wild bird seed,
Black sun flower seeds, (you can also use scratch, oatmeal, wheat germ, grits, whatever you want to use!..)

In a large mixing bowl..wet the bread slices..add the seed and scratch..(whatever you choose to add)...mix all the ingredients together(with your hands)..the wet bread is the binder..it makes a kind of dough....grease a microwave safe baking pan...add the bread/seed mixture to the pan...press down tightly with a spatula...put in microwave oven for 5 minutes..keep testing hardness with finger(it will take about 20 minutes total...)...when you feel it is hard enough..take out and let cool...it will harden even more...if you greased the pan enough..it will pop right out of the pan in one solid block..they love it!
