This is her other eye which is closed in the pic but she can open it

Hey Lauren I hate to see your poor little babe in like this its just pitiful, I had a chicken do the same thing :-( I thought I was going to loss her! I must ask Before His or Her eyes got swollen was there any bubbles in eye sorta like someone had spit in its eye???

Oh its a HER im sorry :-). If the spit looking substance was preset its a Severe Respiratory Infection. Mycoplasmosis or Mycoplasma for short. I went to the local TSC and bought Tylan 50. Now this a Swine and Cattle medication but it can be used for Poultry. I gave 1 CC per 5 pounds of chicken weight lol, I gave this in a shot in breast :-) I hope this helps Friend!

No she wasn't bubbly round the eye at all! I've got some metacam and baytril should I try her on some of that?!

Mmm it were me I wouldn't you use those on Dogs and cats Correct? I you don't want to try the shot yet id bring her in the house and use some saline solution for contacts NO Disinfectant should be in it just plain saline solution and squirt some in her eye now she will squirm with you but who wouldn't something get squirted in you eye lol, I would do it about every 2 hours. and use a warm wet washcloth and clean her eye lids. If this doesn't work I really recommend the Tylan 50. Its only 14.99 a bottle and Ive had mine for a long time it comes in 100ML bottle is smallest I think and 500ML being the largest. The shots go in breast just move the feathers until you see skin and give it to her.... Or take her to a Vet. :-) Goodluck!!!

Wait!!!! It looks like maybe mites :-) there isn't feathers around eyes have looked for those?? you can put seven dust right on her belly and back! Oh for your sack I hope that's all it is :-). If mites still do the saline solution :-)

Another thought...

One of my chicks looked like this when it had a piece of feed stuck in its eye. It was literally jammed down in the duct so I'm guessing it traveled thru the sinuses to get there? I didn't know what was going on until I got the swelling to go down (saline solution and warm wash clothes), but once I saw it I just squeezed it out (gross). After a few days you'd have never known it happened at all.

I hope your chicks feeling better soon!

Thank you all for your help. She is slightly improved today the eye is open but very matted and swollen. I think she had something stuck in it so will see how she is tomorrow

My chickens had that. We had to put drops in there eyes 5-7 times a day and twice at night. Also we had to put a powdery substance in there water... only one died
