that all metal coop/run that someone posted awhile back. i think the guy was from arizona and he essentially welded a beautiful coop. I have a friend that’s husband is great with metal and not so much with wood.

Hot days I have it open on 3 sides, tarp on the back wall for shade, tarp on top for shade. Right now I have it on grass like a tractor, move it once a week before the grass dies. If it gets cold tarps or sheet metal are attached to the sides. Mostly blocks the wind. It was 98 today, I ran the sprinkler and put in a big extra pan of water. Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter, ~100, I will put an ice block in the big water pan. They stand in it, or on the ice. They figured that out right away as 4 week old chicks.

We are zone 7 in Prescott. But it is a lot dryer than Puyallup. We are from Seattle, and I would maybe not have this kind of coop there. Here the problem is heat. I use old sheet metal roofing to block wind and rain, we do get some snow in the winter. Mine will go on cinder blocks for the winter so I can put in bedding. I use an electric net fence to keep the coyotes away. In the winter, I will be depending on the wire and cinder block footing, snow could shut down the fence occasionally!
