Can someone please explain Artificial Insemination to me?

O.O Bad mental picture there. But no, I think you insert a tube in...I don't know how it works.

Unless you have really exotics you would be better off just getting fertile eggs and hatching them.

P.S. come on down, I will hook ya up with some fertile eggs.

as for viable "roo juice," I took my hens to a friend who extracted AI'ed my girls for me from one of her roos...on the spot. I guess you could also just take your girls on a "date" and pen them together for a day or two, as well.

Unless you plan to keep them seperate first you will throw all biosecurity out the window with this method. Even if both birds seem healthy coming from just down the road, they may be subject to different hazards.

Hey everybody I am trying to breed my guinea hen to my chicken roosters, but all i have are banty roosters OEGB and a silkie rooster and i think they would be too small too get on top of the guinea hen. And also AI gives higher chances of fertility with chicken guinea crosses. Are banty roosters harder to "juice" or is it just me?

How hard is it to juice y... um, I better duck!

NO!!! There is NO insertion involved with either cock or hen!! Either when they "do" it naturally, or via AI. Watch the video.

Bantams are quite capable of successfully fertilizing large fowl. I would be very surprised is a silkie could not fertilize a guinea hen--I had one fertilize a brahma (not bantam) and an orpington (also not bantam). The question is more one of whether he would be interested--my guess is that it is likely.

I agree on both of those statements.

My Sebright rooster successfully mated with my Black Australorp hen. And I have the chick to prove it!

I gave those two chicks away. The brahmaX rooster lives on the other side of the neighborhood. I gave away another rooster today to their next door neighbors (a birthday present for their son).
