Hello my name is Ashley

I am a proud and happy Chicken mom. Catarino is 1 year and 9 months old and is a hatch breed which means he grows spurs, for safety reasons we decided to trim them down as he is a backyard chicken. After trimming down, I noticed his tail was down and noticed he was a bit off. Yesterday (Sunday) He would walk but only give a few steps but it seemed like he would walk with his feet like something kept bothering him and would lay down. He has not lost his appetite and his comb is still red, but today I noticed he has not been able to really walk he gets up in his house but has not gone outside. I am very worried, could someone kindly advise me or help me what can I do for him to make him feel better, I miss seeing him so active and happy around the house it breaks my heart. Thank you in advance for your help ♥️

You say Hatch Breed, you mean Hatch Gamefowl.

What is his diet like? I wanna see if this is a Deficiency rather then Marek's Disease, gotta rule out other possibilities.

If he's an only chicken, that's not healthy for him, & it's extremely not healthy for them to be housed indoors in your house.

Hello,
No he’s not an only chicken he has 2 hens, he’s daily diet consists of chicken feed, vegetables such as tomatoes, fruits in addition they love to eat dry warms I give them daily vitamins which I will be sharing pictures off. They have there own house that my husband built for them which he is currently inside. Thank you for responding to my post I look forward to hearing from you soon 😊.

How often are treats given?

Can you share the dosage amounts of the Vitamin, & Electrolytes bottle? Most poultry vitamins lack certain essential vitamins.

Your post was just not very clear.

What did you use to trim the spurs?

I wonder if it did something that is causing him pain afterwards (For example: grinding with a dremel tool can make things hot, which could hurt him at the time, and depending on how hot it got, it might hurt for some time afterward as well.)

By treats you mean worms? I usually give them daily, I ran out of them so it’s been maybe about a week or two I haven’t feed them treats.

My husband used small hacksaw.
