Can anyone please help me identify this gosling or maybe duckling? My brother and father were down at the local stream and this little guy popped out from under a bridge and wouldnt leave their side. They brought it to me since my wife and I raise ducks and have a small flock in our backyard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That is some kind of goose. You can tell because the bill shape is different from that of a duck. If you raise it and keep it, it will become a great guardian for your ducks and will frighten predators away.

The part that's got me is it followed my brother around while he was fishing. My brother even tried to get away from it by crossing the river but the little guy swam right after him. He called me and told me there was a little duckling following him and he thinks it might be an Easter duck someone abandoned. I told him if it keeps following him and lets him pick it up to bring it over and I would check it out. Now when he was saying duckling, I thought it must have imprinted on a human that discarded it at the river but when he got here I knew it wasn't like any duckling I have dealt with.

The four gathered together on the bottom right of the picture are two day old toulouse goslings.

If it turns out to be Canada please don't think it can make it if you take it back where it was found, it will die pretty quick from pred or hypothermia most likely mama left it some how.

Welcome to BYC!

I was leaning towards a canadian gosling. Im just so surprised it wants to hang around humans so much. Evan the day old White layer ducks we got would scream bloody murder every time we would pick them up. On the other hand our Muscovy loves to hang out and have a conversation.
