And where, may I ask, did you get it?

There is a bewildering variety out there..............

many tx!

EDITED TO SAY: I have changed the title of this thread, since we have changed what we are looking for. So some of the answers from 11 August may not seem to make lots of sense.

The OP was asking about dog training collars. But we now are actually looking into an invisible fence, as much more practical for our needs................

tx for patience

are you asking about one with a invisible fence or one with a remote?

We have used a Pet Safe electric collar with invisible fence on our dogs for years. It works really well. The breeds we have them on are an Akita and a Shepherd/chow mix so we use the "stubborn" collar. We got it through pet street mall

The ONLY good E-collar is Tri-Tronics, in my at the moment not-so-humble opinion. Of course, if you ask 3 other dog trainers, you will probably get 3 more different answers

I love Tri-Tronics for the durability, reliability and ease of use. I LOVE their bark limiter. Their customer service is also good. They can be found at some sporting goods stores (Cabella's, Scheels, maybe others). Their website ( http://tritronics.com/ ) lists distributors.

I used to have an electric fence that also had a remote I could use off site with the collar.

I did a lot of research when I got it and ended up with an Innotek system. I was very happy with it. Just make sure if you have a lab or other stubborn breed that you get the collar
for it. Also if you have a long hair dog make sure they include the extra long sensors on the collar to get through to the skin of the dog.

Hope that helps narrow it down anyway

Thank you.

the dog is a Golden Retriever.

As it turns out, we will be looking into an invisible fence thing

Any other generous contributions to the thread, now that I've revised it?

thanks again, folks!

Just a headsup if you're wanting an invisable fence to keep it from getting to your ducks they aren't 100% fail proof. OUr neighbors golden gets out of his electric fence about once a year.
