Ive been on here for a little while and i read alot of posts just to oick up alot of info. Where i get lost is when im reading something, somebody throws in an abreviation such as "DH" or something like that and it throws me off track cuz i don't know who they are talking about sometimes. Can somebody break this down for me on the most common ones? I might be too much of a simpleton to figure all of em out so any help is appreciated.

DH- dear husband
DW- dear wife
DS- dear son
DD- dear daughter
I used to wonder the same thing. Hope this helps.

Oh yes, it can puzzle you at first, then you might find yoursel saying LOL to someone in a conversation - happens in my classroom - the kids actually say LOL!

Here is a link to some:

here is another

and here is a searchable one, type in the puzzling term and you get results. I tried BIL and it had two possibilities Boss Is Listening or Brother-In-Law, I am going to use this one too!

I personnally don't care for abreviations.........

Don't feel bad, it took me a while too. Guess I am getting old or something.
DH = Dear Husband, Darling Husband, Darn Husband etc. Depending on the context of the conversation. Heehee.

DW= Dear Wife, Darling Wife, Darn Wife etc. You get the idea

DD = Dear Daughter
DS = Dear Son
DIL = Daughter-in-Law
SIL = Son-in-Law or Sister-in-Law
MIL = Mother-in-Law
FIL = Father-in-Law
SO = Significant Other
IDK = I Don't Know
IMHO = In my humble opinion

these are some that I can think of right now.
