Can someone suggest a feed and source?

i tried using a plastic bin once, the rats/mice ate in it in less then a week and it just had my horse blankets in it(was in my pump house). I use metal cans now. 1 bag, when that bag is done, i wash the can out with soap water , let dry and start again. If you have a larger freezer its good to freeze the feed before use just in case it has eggs in it or if its really hot outside just take a few pounds out at a time.
I dont get too hot here but its always humid. I just opened a bag of goat feed. and half was moldy... its stored in the garage. such a bummer.

I'll keep the feed in the bag.
I learned years ago from the Canidae dog food rep not to store dog (or cat) food in any old plastic container. If it isn't food grade plastic the nutrients will leach into the plastic and affect the quality of the food.

I hear that. However I'm also of a generation where a new, clean trash can could be filled with kool-aid mix, sugar, water, yeast, and a happy college weekend ensures. So any leaching concerns sale away years ago.

I'm not recommending that you drink from a trash can!

Aw man...
Two weeks ago I got a new fridge and scrapped the old one. I got twenty bucks for it, but now I wish I had kept it. That would have been a great place to store feed and not worry about rodents or pests.

I'll try to make that room inside my shed. It's been rodent proof so far.

@Zenmonkey , what we used to call garbage can punch. A must have at parties.

One of our group made his in a diaper pail with a plastic garbage can liner in it

Here is the ingredient list on the adult feed.
But 22% seems like a good percentage. It's not 30%, but it's not that far off from 28% like some turkey starters.
Not sure of the size pellets.

Well, I picked up the Country Spirit adult food (wishful thinking on my part) and also a 26% gamebird starter by Country Spirit. Both are crumbles.
I'll get them switched over to the new starter this afternoon.

Do the change over gradually. Add a bit of the new food to their old and increase it until it's all the new food in 5-7 days.

They may experience upset stomachs and diarrhea otherwise.

My birds have really done well on the ranch pro game bird starter grower and now they are starting to get the ranch pro game bird. Both are crumbles and it’s around 22$ for a 40lb bag. The starter is 28% protein and the adult feed is 18%. I get it from Atwoods.
