He could be a buff colored roo crossed over a barred or dark hen. One or both of his parents were probably mixes as well. But you're right, he would be a great breeding roo for a mixed flock.

His black and white chest area reminds me of my ancona and exchequer leghorn girls. (I have a little trouble telling them apart!)
