Can they go outside for a couple hours at 2 weeks old

After reading your post about taking your flock outside- we decided to keep it indoors and change up the scenery. Everything was going really well, Frankie was enjoying being able to check out the Flock up close-then the tiny dinosaurs realized they could fit RIGHT through the bars. Second photo captures the exact moment we lost control.

Was your dog ok with it?

my babies are in a pack and play. They are little stinkers and try to fly out and like for us to let them run around the room but it’s very messy. I just wish they could get acclimated to the outdoors but I don’t want to risk their lives trying on rainy 35 degree nights. They have A mini coop and their own run right in the middle of the big girls “Fort Knox” so I know it’s safe enough if the weather would cooperate.

It’s going to be rainy and cold for the next week. The next decent day looks like next Friday! The high will be 61. That is much colder than usual here and the babies will be 3 1/2 weeks old but I’m hoping for a daytrip to their mini coop. I think they will outgrow the playpen by then so the weather will have to break or I have to figure out something.

You could cover at least part of the run and put up wind blocks to provide some shelter for them. My 4 1/2 week olds were out with shelter in the rain for about half the day today and did fine. The temp got a little over 50.

Yes! Frankie (the Great Pyr) is really good with them. My only concern is that she would roll over on one!
I hear ya, we are in south jersey and our weather forecast is the same. I just asked the Hubs if I can buy an Aviary “just to be safe” 😬

I grew up in south Jersey

Absecon NJ

your chicks are adorable.

We did it! It was cloudy but warm(ER) so we set up the movable run and let them explore!
They were into it, stretching out and scratching around- Big Sis wasn’t far, making sure they were ok.

I let mine out for a little while yesterday. They liked it but the high was only 62 sunny so they only stayed out for 40 minutes
