Hi All,

Can a homeowners association force you to get rid of your chickens if you keep them in your house? Does anyone have any experience with this?

What? No! I haven't experienced this, but how can homeowners force you to get rid of something you love and care for?
They can't just kick out someone you worked so hard to care for. Its like someone trying to kick a dog or cat out. Don't let em' get to you.

If your homeowners association has covenants and restrictions pertaining to your property in the subdivision, then the rules are likely to be enforced and enforceable. If such exists, you signed them when you bought your property, thereby agreeing to them.

What you might be seeking is a variance.

Chris

Thank You both. The only covenant is against livestock. Chickens are poultry, not livestock. I'll look into what a variance requires.
