Can this happen? Because it did.

I also had one hatch from a black sexlink-
I would think it would work the same way as black would but since they come from barred hens and red roosters, is it different? If so how different.
The chick is black (And if it matters (don't think it does) it has that weird feather condition that makes down look knotted and fragile.
It'll work the same. Pullets Chocolate, cockerels black. They all could have various amounts of leakage when grown.

Blue hens will give chocolate or mauve pullets and black or blue cockerels. Cockerels will carry a chocolate gene.
Splash hens will give mauve pullets and blue cockerels that carry one chocolate gene.
This is proving to be a boy-filled batch of eggs- I only set 9- 6 have hatched. 5 of the 6 are males. 😬
chocolate/faverolle, definitely black:

two that appear to be blue off either a splash or blue hen:

The last of the 6 is still fluffing. (Hopefully the 3 eggs remaining will have another pullet 😂)

Hey, watching this boy feather in. Is it normal for blue to look this light? Almost lavender.
I breed bbs cochins so i know how it works, just never seen this light of a shade.

It happens.
Blue can vary greatly. From so light it looks splash to so dark it looks black. But ya somewhere in that spectrum it can look very lavender.

Agreed pullet and very possible. All pullets will be chocolate from this cross and all cockerels should be black.
Do you have any current pictures of
Hatching byms from a chocolate rooster and some if my free ranger girls.
They're hatching now and the first one out was from a salmon faverolle hen.
It's chocolate. (If mauve is possible then it could be that too but I'm not sure what the outcomes are.)
The other hen's eggs will hatch out sexlinks, multiple colors, but I don't know much about the salmon color and how genetics work for it so I've got to no clue what to expect.

A couple pictures of some of the faverolles and the chocolate orpington boy:

Do you have any updated pictures? I’m hatching salmon faverolle hen and black Cochin next week. I’d be interested to see how yours are coming along.

But i do have a hatch i did recently from the same chocolate roo- i believe 1 of them was from a salmon faverolle hen.
Also if you're looking for sexlinks i don't think the black rooster will do that.

I hadn’t thought of sex link possibility but am curious of what they may look like.

Black Cochin rooster and Salmon Faverolles hen should give black chicks. They may show leakage as they grow up.

Chicks should have muffs & beards on their faces, feathered feet, and 5 toes per foot. You might get some chicks with no muff/beard, and you might get some chicks with only 4 toes per feet, or that might not happen. It depends on which exact genes are carried by the Faverolles hen.
