Can it happen that a mature female quail doesn't lay for its entire life span?

Jack, lets hope not. If they truely are hens, you may want to ask the person you purchased them from... they may have sold you "very mature" hens that have passed their egg laying days.

I would imagine it's certainly plausible due to some sort of health defect, but having read practically this entire forum and not once seeing mention of it, I'd say fairly confidently that it's not common in the least.
