Goon 1 (white) is a drake. Goon 2 (piebald) is a duck. Agree or disagree?
Additional info that may not be clear in this photo. Goon 2 is smaller. Goon 2 “trills” constantly. Goon 2 is passive. Goon 1 acts like a drake. From the beginning, I’ve felt like I had 1 drake and 1 duck without proof. For a while, the two seemed exactly the same, development-wise and there were worries that they might both be drakes. Rarely have I considered that Goon 1 could be a duck. I’m sure he’s not. Anyways, I want to make this official so I can go find 2-3 lovely new ladies so that Goon 2 and Daphne won’t have a hard time.

I mean, come on, look at those (comparatively) tiny Goon 2 feet!

In my opinion it's too early to know.
Both have the same size feet..I'd keep waiting another month.

I think the hardest part of waiting for me is that if both were to be drakes, I would have to downsize as 12 ducks total is a lot for the space we have, especially when one takes into account that winter care is much more challenging and I like my duck areas to stay as clean as possible (haha). I like both Goons, but would have to find a new home for Goon 1, which would suck as Goon 2 is very attached to him and I don’t know of anyone who needs another Muscovy drake. I’d hate to think of him being eaten. Yes, I’m a softy. The waiting has not been easy!

That being said, Goon 1 looks more and more like a big seagull or small albatross every day

I'm thinking both are Drakes..Although keep waiting..

Thank you all. Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been quite sick for the past week. Hopefully, I’m on the mend now. My husband got truck loads of dirt delivered to create a level area at the location of the future duckio! We are trying hard to make sure they have a nice and secure outdoor area for the winter (they have a barn for the indoor portion, and the duckio will be connected). And we will make it big enough so that any additions (of the duck variety) can be made without cramping anyone’s style. Summer has been easy as we’ve moved them around with a temporary pen and have allowed supervised free-ranging adventures. Winter is, of course, a whole different beast.

Anyways, pardon my medicated ramblings. What I really wanted to ask was what breeds of ducks you would recommend for the additions. Obviously, with at least 1 Muscovy drake, I should stay away from any tiny girls, but would Khakis or Cayugas or Buffs be ok, or should I stick to other Muscovies? I feel like Daphne wouldn’t want to be the only Mallard derived girl...
