Hello guys! My chicks are now 3 and a half and 4 and a half weeks old now. We have a heat lamp about 2 feet above their brooder, and that has worked good, though they are quickly outgrowing their brooder. Are we allowed to take the heat lamp off them? The low during the nights are 60 or so, and they are Jersey giants and barred Plymouth rocks. Thank you!

If the chicks are mostly feathered and they are somewhere draft-free, they should be fine to wean off of the heat lamp with those mild temps. You can also put a box for them to huddle in and get some extra warmth/protection and encourage them to all sleep together.

I would start leaving it off during the day at least. You can turn it back on at night for the next few days if you want, but they may not need it. Just listen to them, they'll tell you if they're too cold
