One of my ducklings (whom I have always thought to be a girl) tried to "attack" my dog today! She was hissing and lunging as thought she wanted to bite her, until I tapped her on the back and distracted her. I'm wondering if the hissing means that SHE is really a HE! The only information I can find online states that males hiss, but doesn't say that females can't, won't, or never do. If it helps, she has skinny legs, feminine features, and is half the size of her littermate who I am sure is a male. Any opinions and information is appreciated!

Although I'm not a muscovy expert by any means, I do research a lot, and from what I've heard from other posters on here, the females can hiss, but whereas the boys can only hiss, the females can also do trills and other noises as well.

They do and when their ticked they REALLY do lol try to disturb a broody you'll get to hear all the noises they make

Drakes ONLY hiss/huff, ducks trill, coo, quack, hiss, peep.. they have a vocal range.

I have one 'scovie girl who mainly hisses she has an attitude she's 100% duck just like to be obnoxious.
