Can You Believe This!?!!

That is awesome but I'm skeptical on how it would work and if you have 2 eating at the same time a smaller hen and big one, the bigger hen hops off the deal.........could be a squashed chicken!!

I never thought of that. We saw it a few months back and considered something similar. Glad we didn't! That'd be scary for the hen (or roo) that is not on the feeder.

that is pretty cool but what if the chickens are too light and/or can't figure it out or something then you would end up with starved chickens but I guess you could make it out of lighter material if you had to and/or teach them how to use it but it is pretty cool.

The point is that it keeps the rodents out. I would love to have something like that to make sure that I am not feeding the rat population. I have different sizes and ages of chickens together, however, and would be afraid that one day I would find a poor chick trapped inside the feeder.

Even if I did have a feeder like that, I would only be able to put 3 or 4 days worth of feed in it at the most. The humidity here tends to spoil the feed fairly quickly, especially if it has been raining a lot (like this summer). I am always amazed how quickly feed that has been sitting out a few days can go from looking fine to being green, fuzzy, and probably poisonous. It can look fine in the morning and by evening feeding time be nasty. It looks like it would be a bit hard to clean if mold or mildew did develop in there. I would like to have something like that made out of plastic or metal that won't harbor spores and is relatively easily disassembled for cleaning ... but I don't ask much

Anyway, I am babbling. I am prone to that at 3 a.m. Back to work so I can get done and go to bed.
