Can you brood CX and layers together?

I have 6 day old chicks: 7 CX and 10 layers currently in the brooder. I'm wondering if I can keep them together or if I have to separate due to the CX going on their feed restriction tomorrow? Can the layers also be restricted as long as they have enough feeder space so they don't get bullied? I have the ability to separate if that's really the best thing though.

I actually have 2 living with grown layers and others growing out.. at two weeks I pulled 2 cx hens to try a project cx breed to a white rock. They act like normal chickens oddly enough and I would guess pounds behind the other cx. But I have some cx in the meat pen that are very agressive as the size difference grows they could harm the layers they seem to get food agressive
