Can you candle a duck egg on hatching day?

you shouldnt open the incubator after lockdown.
if the egg is pipped & you open the incubator, it will cause it to shrink wrap because of humidity loss.

Okay. So I can't even open it for a minute if none have pipped yet?

I wouldnt. When I first started hatching eggs, i would get really impatient and check them after lockdown. It got really old helping most of the eggs hatch because they got stuck.
Once I stopped doing that, I didnt have to help any hatch, they were able to do it on their own. Sometimes the pip is so small that you cant even see it until you candle it, and then the damage is already done
