My young hen (black with irridescent green in the sun is supposed to be a Maran, but I don't think so...) is beginning to lay eggs and just laid one under the tree in by back yarn. I actually saw her lay it because the rooster seemed to be coaching her and was making weird noises. After she laid it, she looked at it with the rooster, and they both walked away.
I collected it and it has a very soft flexible shell.
I washed it off and put it in a small dish. It is still intact.
Can you still eat these soft eggs?
