can you electrify an existing fence?

im always open to input from any and everyone. but i really enjoy one-stop-shopping.

so i’ll take advice and apply it to my
shopping list.
If you remotely handy, you'll be able to get this done.
But as I get older, I do like making a phone call and watching someone else do the project, lol.

i have no issues installing it, i think i can handle that part.

even though most ordering is done online these days, i prefer talking through an order with a lot of components with someone on the phone.

when i ordered my home theater system, i’d have been lost if i didn’t place the order on the phone.

Home theater is much more complicated than a hot wire, lol. We're talking home entertainment center. Never seen one in a chicken coop, lol

much more expensive too, i hope. haha

it was just an example to point out that when possible, i like placing orders over the phone for things i don’t know a ton about.

@aart. Has good info on electric fence, I think. But she would be able to point you to the proper articles, hopefully.
I know little to nothing about electric fences......
Premier1supplies.com is a great site, help by phone, and components of a good electric fence, or electrified poultry netting. @cmom and @Howard E are also good resources for this project.

I always conjure @HowardE...and refer to his article:

Only if the fence is not electrically connected to the ground.

I found electric crazy easy, tbh. I was hesitant, too, but it was a lot simpler than I imagined. And pretty darn cheap. All you need is the wire, insulators (there are several kinds - I don't know which is best for your fence type), ground rods, the energizer, and insulated wire. I use a batteries. When one needs charging, I hook up the back up battery. There are also solar powered and plug-in energizers.

I second calling Premier1. They helped me A LOT with my first set up. Now I can pretty much do it myself.
