It's a cute setup from what i can see, the photos are to small for these old eyes,
you got some great advice here.
My pitt girl can rip right threw chain link , seen it happen the first time i tried to kennel her when she was injured by a wild hog.

Thank you, for your incredibly good suggestions. We will put a door on the coop ASAP. Also look into the hot wire. The dogs are doing great with the chickens, they are basically ignoring them. Except for my one foster dog, he is curious but every time he goes near we shoot him with a stream of water from the hose! . That has been keeping him away! I feel badly doing this to him, but he absolutely must learn not to bother chickens.
Thank. You!
Nancy
I also think you need some harder wire...I can pull chicken wire apart with bare hands, try it and see. Also, dogs may not show interest while you are there, but leave them alone long enough and things change.
Hi ! Me again. I made the post re-seven dust and electric fencing. I noticed in the photo of your nice coop you do raised bed gardening. What are you using as edges to the raised beds ? Mine are getting old and falling apart ( landscape timbers ). I do not want to use them again, cost and chemicals. I guess it is O K to ask this even though it is not a chickie question.
Hi,
We used untreated 2x8s for the gardens. I got a late start this year, only have 4 beds, but am putting in two more for late season veggies. In the north country, that means Swiss chard, lettuce and spinach!
And yes, thanks for the heads-up about leaving dogs alone with chickens. I would never leave them outside when I am not here, although the outside fence was used for them originally. Still, with a few hours, they could dig the whole coop up! I have one boy who is not interested at all, he has been out at night roaming within our fenced area (about 5 acres) and barks at anything he hears. I feel safer about raccoons with him out at night, as long as I am here,, and I can hear him if he goes near the chickens, which he hasn't.
Thanks!
Nancy
