My poults just got here yesterday and they are busy eating at the chicken starter crumbles that they are sharing with their chicken roommates. I know turkeys need a little higher protein than the chicks, so I'm wondering what I can do to supplement protein without buying turkey starter as it is not available in my area. I have a red worm compost bin with literally thousands of worms. Would this be ok if the worm bins are kept in an indoor area. I just dont want my poults catching any diseases from the worms. If you guys think its ok, when do you think its ok to start giving them some?

I know that birds LOVE worms and we can't control what they eat in the yard while they scratch but I'm not a fan of freely feeding worms to them because of the parasites that worms carry. I know that you're also asking when is it ok to start giving them some.

Please go to this link and read about worms.
