I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to get valley quail to lay through the winter with artificial lighting???

I don't see how it would be worth shortening it's lifespan to generate another 25-50 eggs that will most likely have a questionable fertility rate. You can try, and I'm sure you'll get them to lay if you try hard enough but forced production will guarantee a shorter lifespan.

Do you know how long they will live
With a natural laying season, which is short compared to bobs, they will do their best. They are a nervous little bird that use up alot of heart beats. 3 to 5 years is bout best you could hope for Id say, but i'v never had one last that long. As DC said, you can force eggs with light after a rest from the natural season. Egg numbers and fertility wont be the best..... These, Gambel's and Blue scales always seem easy to stress. A cat walking your pens at night can send them into a coma..... Good luck Bill
