I have a previous post about a chick that I thought had coccidiosis. So I've got the medication today ( baycox). The chick goes up and down. Looks really sick, then fine.
So I'm wondering if the medication will hurt the chicks if they don't actually have coccidiosis?

I'm sorry, I don't know that medicine, but I'll give your post a bump to the top and maybe someone who knows will see it. Good luck.

People give medicated feed to chicks indiscriminately hoping for a fixall even though it only contains amprolium or some other cocciciostat.
I'm not familiar with that medication but I'm sure that in your case giving that to chicks as a preventive measure won't harm them.

I rarely feed medicated but was sure (due to conditions I should have prevented) some of my current brood were infected and switched to a med starter and they're doing fine now.

Do you see bloody stool?

Cocci is treated with Corid or Sulmet...I'm sorry I have never heard of the medicine you are using.
You can find it in the cattle/bovine section of your local feed store.

Wish you the best of luck!

I got it from my vet.
It's supposed to be the best meditaction for coccidiosis. I'm in Australia. I haven't seen pure blood stools, only ones with a tiny red spot. But the original chick has gotten better and all the others have taken turns in showing signs of sickness, then getting better.
