Can you give chickens navy beans?

Well, I have a question. Are you able to sprout navy beans in a jar and feed them to your hens? I wanted to check before I did this in case they are bad for them.
 
I would not. Dried beans contain a substance (lectin) that can be harmful to chickens. It can hurt you too. If they are well cooked they're OK but sprouting them won't eliminate the problem. Red Kidney beans have the highest level of that toxin but Navy beans have it too.
 
Really? I read in a chicken magazine it is ok to give them sprouts. Are there any types of beans or seeds that are ok to sprout and give to them?
