I just got done with a hatch of ebay eggs that come to find out when they arrived were all pullet eggs a lot weren't fertile out of 7 only 3 grew one hatched out fine no issues just sooo small though the other two were too big for their shell and had messed up legs because of it and zipped at the wrong end because they couldn't turn. but the little girl is almost as big as the others the broody hatched of her own babies which were 3 days older.
LOL yes u can hatch pullet, i just hatched 5 out of 6 pullet eggs and they are the smallest babies ever and oh my god they are sooooooooo cute, they are 3 days old
Expect a lower hatch rate. I only got 2 out of 24 when I hatched a bunch of pullet eggs and then 1 out of 2 when I tried to hatch the first 2 eggs from my favorite hen.
my girls have all just started to lay consistently and i want to hatch out some off their eggs. i am just now gathering my materials to build an incubator so it will be a little while until i am ready. but my ??? is when are they ready???
i see by previous posts that you can hatch out their first eggs but i want to wait until they are ready so i get a better hatch.
how long should i wait to start collecting eggs??
i have 2 roosters and i have been checking the eggs and most seem to be fertile...of course i am new at this so i may be wrong??
but i am very eggcited
about the idea of our own chickies!!! and i would like to test my incubator creation with free eggs first!! any replies about how long i should wait would be so helpful...their eggs are getting bigger everyday, all of them have been laying an egg every other or everyday for 2 weeks now. i'm thinking like another month and a half should be good?
Mine started laying in August. In October I hatched 4 out of 4. They were a little small at first but they are getting very big. Had no problem hatching them.
