Can you have the run be on a concrete pad?

I have a 8 foot by 20 foot concrete pad in my backyard. I want to have a raised coop but was not sure if I built the raised coop and run on concrete would be a good idea. Any input?

You could definitely do that! I would suggest using 2”x12”s two inch side up so that you could fill the run with at least 8 inches of dirt.

If I did that on the concrete then I shouldn't have any worries about animals getting in through by digging. That's a great idea! I am completely new to this and I want to do this with my grandson so that he may learn responsibility.

If I had an 8' x 20' concrete slab I'd frame it out and put a roof on it with big overhangs all the way around and like mentioned put a board around the inside to contain what ever you fill it with. I'd lean toward deep litter instead of dirt. I'd enclose 3 sides of one end with the eve as the vent and use that as the coop. I will never build a raised coop again!
