Hello All,
I am the proud owner of a small mixed flock of "heritage breeds" (or so I'm told)... ;-) and there is one hen I can't seem to find in any of the breed charts. I'm sure someone will be able to help me as pretty much ALL of you on the board are much more knowledgeable than I about chickens.
Since I'm a new member I'm not allowed to upload photos so I'll try hard to describe her... She is a good-sized, well rounded bird, with an upright medium-sized single red comb and red wattle. The main body feathers are rusty brown BUT all around her neck she has beautiful golden-yellow feathers flecked with dark brown feathers. Up around her face and cheeks the feathers become solid, dark rust. She has light yellow legs without any feathers, and her eyes are a deep orange... not sure if any of this info. will help identify her.
What an AMAZING resource BackYardChickens has been for me! I can't tell you how many times I've referred to the "what chickens can eat" chart... in fact I keep it right on my desktop.
When I get a minute I'll go to the new members page and do a proper intro.
Thanks,
Debutante from Schomberg, Ontario
