I have been serching all over for an answer to this question. Do those Brooder boxes get hot enough to incubate eggs or are the just good for hatching. I know I would have to monitor the humidity and stuff, but I just want to know if it is possible. Thanks!

I know you normaly put the chicks in the brooder after they hatch but some brooders you can put the chicks in for the last few days before hatching and they hatch in the brooder. I was just wondering since they can hatch in the brooder if they can also be incubated there. I have been hatching for years i just wondered if this was a possibility as I have never had a brooder and dont know how they regulate heat. Thanks for your reply.

To my knowledge, a brooder is just an box or place where you keep your chicks contained and warm enough until they can keep themselves warm. With that said. I hatched in my brooder in April, it was my first hatch. I used a 250 watt bulb and I covered all the openings so there was minimal air transfer but there was still fresh air. I was constantly finicking with the light to keep the temperature steady. We were still using wood heat at this time, so when the fire went out the temperature dramatically dropped. And if we had the heat on to supplement the fire, it dramatically rose. I had to use an aromatherapy diffuser to keep the humidity up during lockdown, which needed to be refilled every 4 hours with a tube and syringe... yeah you can hatch in a brooder for sure. I'm not sure I would do it again, but if I did, it would be in the summer.

A brooder will not turn your eggs or regulate humidity, both necessary for hatching.
My incubators don't regulate humidity. And eggs can be hand turned.
I'm curious to see what kind of "brooder box" the OP is referring to?

I’m trying to incubate one right now in a box and hand turning the egg,so with that said I’ll post results at a later date

Hey just wondering how hatching the eggs in the brooder box went ? I'm in an odd situation where the advice will be super handy atm 😆
