Hi there, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

I have tried incubating body checked eggs and never got any good hatching from them.. That is to say some might hatch but the rate is significantly lower than from an egg with a high quality shell on it. if I can't hatch them they aren't much use to me unless coming from a very beloved hen. Hatching eggs sell for $65+/dozen verses $4 or nada for eating eggs.

Have you identified which hen is giving these or the cause of the wrinkles? Here is a really great article that discusses SOME of possible causes as some things can pass to the offspring and one should NEVER hatch from an ill bird... Also, if it isn't illness and is say a defective shell gland.. WHY would one want to carry on poor genetics? It does them and their flock a disservice, IMO.

I wouldn't, and I think it's crazy.

But hey, we are here to learn and to share.. if you do set those eggs and incubate them PLEASE keep track of your results and share them.. maybe even start a thread and see how others result compare to yours! Keep long term records and see if the progeny lay wrinkled eggs, etc. :pop

Happy hatching! :fl:jumpy
