Can you kill a chicken by draining their fluid?

When human patients are 'drained' because of asvites, all of the fluid that can be gotten out is drained. My boyfriend had this procedure done weekly while he was waiting for a liver for his transplant. He said the relief was immeasurable.

Hello, my Old English Bantam had 140cc drained yesterday off her abdomen. Now I sit here windering how to drain her crop that has a huge amount of fluid in it. What size syringe should I use and any tips. She is starting to aspirate the fluid and she is exhausted

I have never heard of 'draining' a crop with a needle and syringe.

It's quite possible that her organs are shutting down and that's why her crop isn't clearing. I have never heard of someone using a needle to drain a crop, but I have heard of people using a tube. Some people also vomit their chickens, but that is dangerous, so be careful if you decide to do it.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but it sounds like your chicken might not have much time left.

If she does die, you should make use of the free necropsy service that CA offers CA residents. If you're close to Turlock, Davis or Tulare you could drop her off there. If not close enough to drive you could FexEx overnight using their account number and the most it will cost is $20.
