I was just curious because in a few weeks im gunna have little chicky babies again and i was designing a new brooder the other day and it hit me...why cant one of my hens do a little heavy working! Cuts electrical costs in half! And it will give me and the hen some good experience! I have a speckled Sussex cross (not sure what shes crossed with) but i heard online chickens with feathered feet make good mothers! And she has feathered feet and i always find her sitting on eggs so do you think she would accept the chicks? Cause it would take a lot more stress off me and the chicks will be happier! So i was wonder if she would take them? And if not can i MAKE her take them? Thanks

You really can't make a hen go broody, the only thing you can do is hope and pray and wait for spring, which is when they're most likely to go broody; however, we did have a BO hen that went broody in the dead of winter, go figure!
