Can you mix bantam and standard size birds together in one flock?

Forgive me. I am new to this strange, but delightful world of chickens. I have been offered a sweet silkie roo. I have no other birds at this time, but want to get a flock of about 6-8 adult standard size laying hens. Can a silkie roo handle a flock of bigger girls?

Yes he can.
MANY people one BYC have a mixed flock along with me. Right now I have 4 bantams in with my laying flock of 27. They get along great!

Good luck, and if you get the rooster, I want to see pictures!

I hatched two tiny green eggs that found me. I ended up with two fiesty little cochins now about 6 wks old. I had my egg flock 30 started 5 weeks earlier. I tried putting them together once, it was not good. I ended up letting them run around the house for a week or so.....
I tried again three weeks later after the older ones had just been introduced to the big COOP. NO PROBLEMS so far. It's one big happy family ! I have done introductions of new fish into established aquariums. It's always best to put new ones in when something "new"is going on with everyone, Rearranging, new rocks or nest areas even weird art or a piece of equipment like a lawnmower, different food ect. anything to distract direct attention from the old school kids till it seems the new ones have been there all along. It might be a good idea to do introductions when you have time to watch all day in case something needs to be corrected quickly. Good Luck
