Can you mix Bantams with Standard breeds?

I've never had a problem keeping banties with "regular" chickens. I did have a Cornish Rock squish a silkie when they were 11 weeks old. I wouldn't put banties in with meaties, but regular chickens are jsut fine.

I have some living together, I just made sure the little guys had somewhere to hide and get away from the bigger birds when they were first introduced.

I have a small dog house that is not in use, our dog is too big for it! I was thinking, if I put that in our chicken run area, if they would go in there for shelter, or to get away from the bigger girls, if that would work...I dont have any bantams yet, but am just trying to plan ahead in case I decide to get some. There is plenty of room in our coop too, but I didnt know if they had to be kept seperate...Probably wouldnt be until spring before we got them anyway, thanks for the info!! We really want to get some silkies I think, the kids think they are adorable (me too), and everything I have read about them, they seem like the friendliest ones...now which color??? decisions decisions

I have 3 little bantams, 2 cochins and a rir. When they were old enough to go out side, I put them in a little dog house with some fencing around it. Now they free range in the yard with the big chickens, but every night they roost in their own little dog house between the 2 big coops.

Silkies are sweet, I am really enjoying the cochins though. They are so sweet and cuddly! They hop right up on my lap and cuddle in if I sit down in the grass. My kids love playing with them because they are so sweet. Silkies are in our future (just got an incubator), I really love them too!
