We've got so much rain here in Cali lately that my girl's run has been a muddy mess--and they havent been happy about it. I got home from work yesterday and my husband (who was supposed to be sick) had gone out to Home Depot and installed sod in the girls run. Guess thats one way of dealing with the mud!

I dont think I have ever seen them quite as happy, pleasantly grazing away. Who would have thought those little feathered gals would have my hubby so wrapped around their little toes!

Great idea!
Keep us posted on how long it lasts please. I would love to put some in my run for the days when they have to stay in all day.

Haha! I dont know if it will last long with them munching away at it like little goats all day long.

I guess it was only about $9 for the sod to cover an 8x4 run which I would gladly pay not to hear their indignant complaints about the mud LOL!!

Hmmmmm.... that's not too bad!! Besides being "just an expensive treat" and lord knows I already do that sometimes, it is helpful for US in the runs. For a while, anyway.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll spoil mine soon...... this mud is making me nuts. It's that adobe kind of muck, super slippery, even in boots! And I'm too old to fall on my keister in muck, nowadays.

Where are the lounge chairs? And the drinks with little umbrellas? All I see are severely neglected chickens!

Excellent idea! I have thought about growing some flats of wheatgrass for my crew during the winter.

Very nice run too!!

Seriously, all they need is cabanas and a little pool in the middle. Margarita anyone?

Ooh! I bet they would love wheat grass!

Thanks for the compliment on the run. My hubby comes in handy

You should see the run at night, he has solar-powered LED lights around it (interesting, albeit hillbilly) no wonder they party all night.....city chickens

That's a good idea if you have the funds for it! My run is mush right now too and I HATE it....almost as bad as the chickies and goats.
