Hi,
I was thinking of getting a few more birds for showing. Some that are on my list are not in any of the classes for the APA Standard Of Perfection. Can I still show those in normal shows? Like the Orloff, Nankin, Appenzeller, and certain color varieties that aren't listed? Could I win things with those? Any input would be appreciated....

The Marans aren't listed but you can still show them in certain shows (like fairs, meets, etc. ) I think it depends where you show them too.

If the breed is an unrecognized breed you can still show them but they cannot win anthing beyond their breed. If you are showing a non standard variety within a breed that is recognized the highest placing they can go is winning the variety.

The Nankins are listed in the ABA standard so can win equally as other accepted breeds but the likelihood is not high as I don't know of anyone who has focused on breeding them.

I would think for the breeds that you would like to show but are not in the APA/ ABA Standard (like the Orloff and the Appzeller) you would have to bring a working standard of the breed and variety so the judge has some thing to go on..
