How do I tell if he is the barred cochin?

Here's a pic of our pullet. I thought she was a BR until a friend told me she could be a maran. What do you think?

The difference between Barred Rock and a Cuckoo Maran is the color of their feet. (At least that is what I was told.)

Barred Rock -- yellow feet

Cuckoo Maran -- pinkish white feet

A proper french maran has a line of feathers on the leg. It seems very few out there come to that part of the standard. Most of what I see out there are out crosses.

So feathers on his feet and feet that are yellow makes a feather footed barred rock cochin? This is harder to keep track of the dog breeds!

That would make it a Barred cochin. That is a feather footed breed. Rocks are another breed and they do not have featherd feet. Murray Mcmurray has really good pics of the breeds if you want to look at the differences.
