can you show me your Maran

I have 50 marans on the way to me, so thanks for pointing that out. I also breed barred rocks, and I was going to worry how to tell them apart for breeding!

I wanted to breed marans as well, but I forgot to order a couple cockrels to go with the hens. Then, I figured, they alwasy screw up the sexing anyhow, so it's very likely I'll get some roos too, right? Anyone know if marans are easier or harder to sex at hatch?

This is my big boy Bertram:

I also have a black hen but I can't find a picture of her.

That's a Maran cockrell. One of my relatives farms in England has about 6 maran roosters wandering the grounds. They actually grown quite large and have a beautiful golden/yellow color to their necks.

As I mentioned above, I have 50 maran pullets. Some do show some feather on the legs already. My research indicates that Marans from UK lines are featherless legged; those from French lines have feathers. And to make good certain, all Marans in teh US are probably mixes of the two!
