Can you tell egg color?

@aart, here is a pic from a few weeks ago ..... The camera does no justice to the colors.

ear color.JPG

You can see the ear color on 2 of 3 the Starlight greens, the sexlink with brown lobes in the foreground lays pretty dark brown eggs, and the funny black bald one in the rear is a Prairie Bluebell, right before she started laying. I know in this pic the lobe looks green, but I assure you it's really blue !

I have some better pics I took today that I will update to here in the next day or two.

Please let me know what you think.

This one is a sky blue layer ..... In person it is blue iridescent.

This one lays pale green eggs ..... In person these appear much "greener".

I guess it could be true in some breeds. Though not always. For instance, silkies have blue earlobes but do not lay blue eggs. Many chickens have red earlobes, but I've never seen a chicken that lays red eggs.
Ive never seen a chickens earlobes...! Ha

That article couldn't be further from the truth. Ear lobe colour has no genetic link to egg shell colour, it's just that most (not all) Mediterranean breeds just happen to be bred to a standard where they have white earlobes and lay white eggs. and most (again not all) tinted/brown layers were bred to a standard that calls for red lobes.
If you look at the Penedesencas which are a Mediterranean breed they are white lobed birds that lay dark brown eggs.
Moving away from Mediterranean breeds you will find many breeds that have different lobes to egg colour. Silkies standard calls for turquoise lobes and cream eggs, Araucana which lay blue eggs and bred to have red lobes. then the Cream legbar which has both red lobed and white lobed ancestry should have white ear lobes and lay blue eggs
Mixing different breeds will also result in a variety of lobe and egg colours that may or not match up, most commonly seen in "easter/olive eggers"
