This is what they looked like when I brought them home

two of them had a stripe down their back on the one had a double stripe down their back
I got them from the pullet bin at TSC

The white ones are my silkies.

I am new to this chick raising but the one with the double stripe looks just like my Golden Comets did when I first brought them home. Not sure about the rest. Maybe someone with more experience than I have will be able to ID them for you.

My girls were from TSC as well. I have no idea of what breed that they are either. I suspect that they are a mix of breeds but probably have some RIR in them to some degree.

They are starting to get much friendlier too. Well except for Miss Molly Mouth. The lightest one in the center. She is very vocal about her dislike of being held and petted.

Tomorrow (04/30/10) makes 4 weeks since I bought them. They weren't fluff balls when I picked them up. They had quite a few feathers. So I suppose that they are about 5 weeks old now.

And they are getting much much friendlier. They were skittish as ever up until a few days ago when one decided to become friendly and earned the name "Miss Friendly". Sadly I don't know which one is Miss Friendly now as they are all becoming very friendly. Especially when I have a handful of clover. They love the big round leaves.

I got 12 of the darker ones from the TSC pullet bin as well and I was told that the cross was New Hampshire Red and New Hampshire White. Now, I'm not sure if that is true or not, but it is what I was told.

I will post a picture of mine here in a bit.

Here are a few pictures of mine. I managed to get 11 into one picture. The other little bugger was just outside of the viewing area. LOL! If I calculated correctly, they are right around 8 weeks old.

I have the same birds - one big one who shows signs of being very COCKY ... and one lil one I bought cause it was the smallest in the bin and was cute - plus both of them had a bit of color... I was hoping for some pretty babies - and they are beautiful!

I also ended up with some greyish speckled ones... and some black ones -but their wings are striped with black and a light amber color...

I will be watching this thread -maybe someone will know what the breed is... So far my red babies are friendly - and Elmo DEFINITELY knows we are talking to HIM - he's the only one who will eat out my hand so far... I"m hoping they are just a little timid due to being in that bin where everyone and their kids were grabbing at em..and will get friendlier when they figure out I supply food and I'm nice... lol
