CAn you tell where the spur grows>?

We have 25 give or take 1 1/2 month old chicks, can u tell where the spur is?

This young it will appear as a little bump on the inside of the legs.

The spurs will grow in later. They will be about 1/3 of the way up from the rear toe on the back insides of their legs. You should be able to see a round scale on that part of their legs now where spurs can grow in. Generally, roos get them and hens dont... but there are always exceptions.

we have leghorns,and there all suppose to be hens, but the all have the bump on there legs, same with the cornish rocks

Oh, boys and girls will have the bumps. Male's generally that bump grows. Since you have leghorns, any roos will blare roo at you when they are 3 weeks old and have huge combs... seriously...

As for the Cornish rocks, doesn't matter if they are girls or boys because those will go to butcher at 8 weeks or so anyways. You know that the Cornish rocks are meat birds right?

Here's a pic of the beginning spurs on our Black Tailed Buff Jap cockeral (13 weeks old)....

Our Silver Spangled Hamburg cockeral (13 weeks) is also showing signs of his.
