Can you use Pour On Cattle Wormer on Cats?

I think I read a blog piece someplace, I have no idea where, but about a guy who had done in his neighbor's cats by putting some cattle pour on product out on cat food.

I wouldn't put advantix on anything. Moxidectin is a very controversial avermectin (includes ivermectin and selamectin-revolution) that has killed things the size of miniature ponies because the dose wasn't accurate enough. I don't think it has a safe enough dosage range to be used in any way except measured for an exact weight. Not in tubes for x to y amount of lbs. Especially in smaller animals. The side effect rate is pretty high as well. I would and have used revolution before moxidectin/advantix.

It is for treating earmites.

For ear mites you can wipe the ears out with baby oil on a cloth. Then put one or two drops in the ear and work it in. The oil coats and suffocates the mites.

If you use Ivermectin on cats, use the 1% solution and either insulin or tuberculin syringes. .01 cc per pound for cats, .02 cc for kittens. You can inject it, though it can sting (some cats react, some don't). Or you can use the same dosage and put it directly into the ears. It absorbs very readily when applied topically, though isn't as effective as when injected. The vet used to give it to me for the cats, then I found that it's just the 1% that I could get at the feed store cheaper. Just make sure that you have the syringes that can do the tiny doses, you want one that shows .1, .2, etc with 10 lines between each and a good scale.

I've tried baby oil with a rescue that I have for a long time and saw no results

I tried the treatment that you get at the store and that seemed to work. I was asking about the ivermectin because my mom has a cat who is a "special needs" cat and he barely lets you even look in his direction without freaking out. If she could put something on him while he was sleeping, that wold be far less traumatizing for him than being held down for ear drops or wipes. He is a rescue as well, my mom rescues and rehabs cats. This guy we bottle fed from 2 days old and she has had him now for over 10 years. He just acts like a feral cat..very unusual for a bottle baby
