Can young lambs eat ALL Stock feed from TSC?

@ cmjust0: I did not crop off anything and I don't think you are implying that I did but wanna make sure it is understood I am not trying to mislead anyone. The tags on those bags are actually attached to the bag from the bottom of the tag not the side of the tag so that is not it.....it might have happened when the tag was scanned with my scanner or just the way the ingredients are on there. I threw out the tag already. I don't have that brand on hand but will be going to the store that carries it tomorrow and I will get another one.

I am currently just using it for cattle and a tad here and there for my yearling filly as a treat. When I had goats they had some for a treat but not that often and also my pigs got it sometimes for a treat again not much.

I actually have the other brand right now "all stock" let me get that tag and see what it says....I know there is no pictures on the bag.

I'm not implying that you're misleading anyone.. Indeed, I think the scanner probably just cropped the right side a little.

All I'm really interested in knowing is if there's copper included in the ingredients list, and if so, what form of copper is it? The reason I'm interested is because I don't see any listed, and I don't think very much of the ingredient list was cropped out...meaning, I don't think there's actually any added copper in the feed, despite the fact that the guaranteed analysis states 10ppm copper minimum..

What I'm getting at here is that I think there could potentially be a problem with the tag, and that there may not be any added copper in this feed afterall.

That would actually make more sense to me than for it to contain copper, yet be labeled for sheep..

I used to fee Nutregene (sp?) All Stock to my goats and that did have copper in it from what I can recall... I think there are different type brands of "All Stock" though.

Sheep *do* require copper in their diet, however they can't tolerate as much as other animals like goats and cattle. Here's an article on copper and sheep if you're interested. Of course the article is also advertising for their brand, but it still has a lot of good info.

My advice would be to stick with feed labeled for that specific animal. When a feed is formulated for different animals with different nutritional requirements, someone is going to get the short end of the stick.

It's also important to remember that there's natural copper, and there's supplemental copper.. Turnip greens, blackstrap molasses, sunflower seeds, kelp, and other foods are good sources for high levels of natural copper, just for instance.. Point being, just because a feed doesn't contain supplemental copper doesn't mean it doesn't contain any copper whatsoever.

The question then becomes: Do sheep have a requirement for supplemental copper in their diet? All the research I've seen seems to indicate that the safest answer is no.

And, again, there's also the fact that the type of supplemental copper would play an important role in how much is safe for what animals and so forth... For instance, a feed containing supplemental copper oxide would be much safer for sheep than feed containing an equal amount of supplemental copper sulfate, since copper oxide is an extremely poor supplement in terms of bioavailability.

Sorry took so long.....I just have not remembered to get another tag but today I found the originally one in my copier. I did scan it but it was scanned on the lense thing so it got a total image.

At the end of the top line in the ingredients it says Gr then products on the first of the second line?


Let me know what your were wanting to know again if this was not it.

By the way this is all breed above....and the tag for all stock says no added copper but sheep are sensitive to cooper....review your entire feeding program to make sure they do not receive any excess. Copper is not an ingredients or in the list with percentages on this one.
