I wanted to know whats the LAW in USA/Canada and in UK in regards to Canada Geese

my whole life i have lived amongst Canada Geese [yes in UK they are extreamly common]

They Fly from Canada down to UK and i have even noticed them staying and not going back

They are always up the River Thames and i go to feed them with my kids outside Windsor Castle [10 mins drive for me]

Now my question is this

Being Canadian native. what the law for me in UK to hatch out and keep them [subject to getting eggs]

i would kindly like to know what the Canadian Law and what the UK law says about this

Dewlap, Embeden are very cheap and easy to get here but i just love the canada goose its such a beautiful bird

:)

The Migratory Bird Treaty Act would prohibit people living in the US, Canada and Mexico from just picking up any wild bird's eggs and incubating them to hatch to keep as a pet. Check out the link:

I am not sure if the UK's laws are guided by this treaty, but they probably have something similar. The only reason that I know anything about this is because I have mute swans and they were once protected under this act, but now they have been redefined as an invasive species in North America. Anyhow, we needed a federal permit to own Mute Swans, but now I only need a state permit. People can get a permit to breed these wild birds, but even then, I think they need to get the original birds or eggs from another permitted breeder.

I just noticed that you posted this under the "chicken laws" section. I bet you would get more responses over time if you re posted the question in the goose section.

will need to look at UK law

ao far what i know of is we cant take any wild birds that are ringed

as for Mute Swans

I think it was King Henry or King George that messed that up for us here

BAsically they saw them swimming and claimed ownership of them so now

any Mute Swans swimming in UK water be it ringed or not belongs to the Monachy

Thanks for the advice

Can a Admin Member please move this post to the geese section please
