Canada goose losing hair on side of face. Any answers??

This one pair of Canada geese I know with gosling's, I noticed one day the ganders right side of his face was very swollen.. and then as the days went by each time I kept going back he started losing his hair on that side of his face and it looKS like it just got worse. Anybody know what could be causing that?

Possibly an abscess swelling loss of feathers. Maybe something bit him?
