Hi all,
We are a homeschooling family of 6 raising 15 little chicks in Manitoba. A local hobby breeder had an online ad, and we'd been thinking of getting layers for a few years, but never got past the "what if" stage. So we took the plunge this month; hopefully it will be a good learning experience for the kids, and I can't wait until my pets provide me with breakfast!
BYC has been an excellent resource for us n00bs so far, and our 7 Maradona Basques and 8 Cuckoo Marans are still alive and thriving in their little basement cardboard pen after a week. Hopefully the spring arrives on time and we can get our outdoor coop ready before they need it! We will have a 3 season coop, and for those nasty winter months there will be an indoor coop and small run in our heated detached garage.
