I LOVE living directly in the path of migrating Canadian Geese! Every year we get geese by the hundreds on a daily basis during migration in both directions (seems to be larger numbers in the fall though). When I left the house the field was empty, and less than an hour later when I came home, there were a couple hundred geese, and LOTS of babies making their first trip south!! I don't remember ever seeing youngsters in these numbers before - makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!!!

Sorry it's a little photo, I could only get so close, and only had my phone handy...but you get the idea!!

They come and go throughout the day, and it's for several weeks this time of year. And I think it's different groups, or combinations of groups each time / day they stop by.

The field is a wheat field, so at the time of year that they stop, it has been tilled within the last month. I assume they pick out the bits of wheat straw that they find, as well as all the worms/bugs they can find in the soft dirt, and then move along...

About 2 hours after I took this pic, I was standing outside, and they all took off at the same time...it was very noisy, and VERY impressive to see!!
